NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) -- The New Albany School District has named its new superintendent.
The board announced it selected Jackie Ford to assume the post left vacate with the departure of Dr. Charles Garrett last spring.
Ford has worked as an educator for 39 years.
He began his career as the agriculture teacher at Pine Grove High School where he worked for 19 years.
Ford moved to the New Albany School District in 1992 as the vocational director, a post he held for 13 years.
He has served as an assistant superintendent in New Albany for the past seven years and was named interim superintendent when Dr. Garrett left the district.
Ford says the motto of the district is "Leading the way for excellence in education."
He tells WTVA.com he is fortunate to lead an outstanding district with outstanding employees in an area with outstanding community support.
