ELLISTOWN, Miss. (WTVA) -- A mother and four children were pulled from a vehicle after it overturned in a rain-swollen creek in Union County Wednesday afternoon.

Trooper Jason Roe tells WTVA.com Jennifer McKenzie, 47, of New Albany was traveling east on Highway 348 near the Union - Lee County line when the vehicle apparently hydroplaned.

Roe says the vehicle left the highway and landed on its side in the creek.

A Union County sheriff's deputy arrived at the scene and began to help the people out of the car.

A state trooper arrived shortly afterward and assisted with the rescue.

Roe says all four people in the car were wearing their seatbelts and were not seriously injured.

They were taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital - Union County as a precaution.
