PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) — The Mississippi Highway Patrol says a teacher is in critical but stable condition after her car smashed into the back of a Prentiss County school bus Monday.

36-year-old Kacey Phifer was behind the wheel when her Buick Lacrosse crashed into the bus that had stopped on Highway 365 near Highway 30 around 7 a.m.

Phifer teaches at Tishomingo Elementary School.

Trooper Ray Hall says two of the 20 students on the bus were taken to North Mississippi Health Services in Iuka with minor injuries.

A child in Phifer's car also suffered minor injuries.

Phifer was flown to The Med in Memphis.
