TISHOMINGO COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Tishomingo County School District recently elected a new superintendent to the school board.

Starting July 1, Christie Holly will take over as Superintendent of Education for retiring Superintendent Ben McClung.

Holly started her career in teaching after getting a degree in English education at Mississippi State University. She later returned to school to get her Master's degree in Educational Leadership.

She has worked at Hills Chapel School and at Iuka Middle School as an educator, assistant principal and principal.

Holly achieved National Board Certification in the area of Early Adolescence/Generalist in 2002.

She has also served as Tishomingo County’s Director of Curriculum and Testing.

The announcement was made in a meeting on Thursday, March 20.
