Pharmacy acquisition will lead to some closings

DEERFIELD, Ill. (WTVA) -- Walgreens officials say 10 Mississippi pharmacies will be closed once the acquisition of USA Drugs in completed.

North Mississippi locations affected include the Super D locations in Oxford and on North Gloster Street and West Main Streets in Tupelo.

Starkville Discount Drug on North Jackson Street will also be closed.

A Walgreens spokesperson says when a store is closed, all its prescription drug customers will be notified of the location of a nearby Walgreens or USA Drug-affiliated store where their prescription information will be transferred.

No other action is needed by pharmacy customers to have their existing prescriptions filled at any Walgreens store.

Walgreens officials say USA Drug pharmacies has seven Mississippi locations that will remain open including the Super D on South Gloster Street in Tupelo,

USA Drug pharmacies in Belmont, Carthage, Corinth, Eupora, Jackson, and Louisville will also remain open.
