IUKA, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues its investigation into a traffic accident in Tishomingo County Tuesday that sent four people to the hospital.
An MHP spokesperson says Maria Ramsey, 42, of Iuka was driving a car west on Highway 172 when it collided head-on with an SUV driving by Amber Thornton, 19, of Cherokee, Alabama.
Ramsey's car burned as a result of the collision.
Ramsey remains hospitalized in critical condition at Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Corinth.
Thornton was also transported to MRMC with moderate injuries.
A two-year old in Thornton's vehicle was transported to Lebonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis with serious injuries.
An adult passenger in Thornton's vehicle was treated for injuries at North Mississippi Medical Center - Iuka.
Authorities say all of the people in the SUV were properly restrained, including a seven-month old child who was not injured.
It was not known if Ramsey was wearing a seatbelt because the car burned.
