WASHINGTON (WTVA) — Congress is considering legislation that would move Yellow Creek Port in Tishomingo County from federal to state control.
The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on a proposal to do just that. Similar legislation has been introduced in the U.S. House.
A news release by U.S. Senator Thad Cochran says the move would allow more jobs to be created at the port, but it did not say how that would help.
The Mississippi Legislature passed a bill in 2011 that would allow the state to receive control of the property.
