BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. (WTVA) -- Oil Dri Corporation is moving cat litter and floor absorbent operations from an Illinois plant to Tippah County.

A company spokesperson says the work will be transfered to its Blue Mountain facility.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company says the change is the result of the decline in the sale of coarse cat litter.

Oil Dri officials also say they looked at manufacturing costs and state regulatory requirements.

A company spokesperson says 40 workers in Illinois are affected and some would be offered positions in Blue Mountain.

She would not speculate on just how many jobs would be created in Blue Mountain to handle to increase in production.
