RIPLEY, Miss. (WTVA) -- A judge has denied bond for the man accused of killing one man and wounding another in a shooting Wednesday morning in Ripley.

26-year-old Isidro Mercado was formally charged on Thursday with murder and attempted murder.

Police say the shooting on Ashwood Drive killed 35-year-old Ernesto Chaires.

Officers add that 34-year-old Jose Morales suffered a gunshot wound and apparent trauma to the head.

Morales was flown to The Med in Memphis where he was last reported to be in critical condition.
