NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) - A set of 10 brand-new tennis courts opened up in New Albany on Friday at BNA Park. The courts opened up with the start of a USTA-sanctioned junior tennis tournament.

It is the first USTA-sanctioned junior event held in New Albany and features competitors from Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas. Players range in age from 10 to 18 years old.

The tennis complex is still not fully finished, but the courts and surrounding facilities are now in working order. Event organizers say that the nets were put in place earlier in the week and the gazebo was installed recently as well, allowing the park to open in time for the weekend's event.

The complex is designed to allow fans and families to be able to walk next to each court for better sight-lines, featuring five pairs of courts with paths around each.

The tennis tournament wraps up on Sunday afternoon.
