TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Former Mississippi State pitcher Chris Stratton and former Ole Miss second baseman Alex Yarbrough were named first-team All-Americans by Baseball America on Friday.
Stratton was a first round draft pick of the San Francisco Giants and signed with the club earlier in the month.
The Tupelo-native posted an (11-2) record in his final season with the Bulldogs to go along with a 2.38 earned run average. Stratton also struck out 127 batters (including 17 in a game against LSU) and closed out Mississippi State's SEC Tournament championship game.
Yarbrough was a fourth round draft pick of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and signed with the Angels earlier in June.
Yarbrough hit .389 in his final season as a Rebel, the second-highest batting average of any SEC player. He had three homers, 17 doubles and 41 RBI.
