STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- The city of Starkville will honor one of its native sons by dedicating one of the Sportsplex's main facilities in his honor.

The Starkville Park Commission on Thursday announced plans to name the facility in honor of Travis Outlaw.

Outlaw, currently a member of the NBA's Sacremento Kings, is being honored for his outstanding community involvement.

Outlaw graduated from Starkville High School and was drafted by the Portland Trailblazers in 2003.

The dedication is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Travis Outlaw Day is scheduled for Saturday at McKee Park.

The day consists of free food, prize giveaways and family friendly activities.
