OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss will be without Aaron Jones and Nick Williams when the Rebels visit the Florida Gators on Saturday, and they will likely be without both of them for an extended period of time.
Jones suffered a torn ACL in Tuesday night's 87-74 loss to Kentucky and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. Williams suffered what is being called a foot injury and is out indefinitely.
Jones broke the news himself on Twitter Wednesday afternoon, saying "Not the news I was hoping for ... minor setback for a major comeback ... it's tore (sic)" (originally sent as three separate tweets).
Williams also sent out a tweet about his injury, saying "Thanks for all the prayers and support my #RebelFamily I love you guys! I'll be back soon #HottyToddy".
Jones, a sophomore forward, has played in all 20 games this season, starting one. He's averaging 16.9 minutes, 3.5 points and 4.1 rebounds a game this season.
Williams, a senior guard, has started 12 games this season and has played in all 20. He averages 9.4 points and 2.6 rebounds a game while playing an average of 24.5 minutes a night. He has recorded 34 assists so far this season.
The Rebels hit the road to take on the SEC's highest-ranked team, the Florida Gators, on Saturday. That game tips off at 6:00 p.m. CST (7:00 p.m. local time).
