(WTVA/MSU Athletics) - Fans have an opportunity to own one of a limited number of “Boston tribute” baseball hats worn by Mississippi State’s Diamond Dogs in their nationally-televised Thursday night baseball game with Auburn. All proceeds from the auctions will be donated to charity, benefiting the victims of the Boston Marathon attack.
In a joint venture of the MSU Athletic Department, Bulldog Sports Properties and NeuLion, 24 game-worn maroon hats with a distinguished “B” insignia embroidered on it are up for public auction on the MSU Athletics web site (www.HailState.com
“It’s a small gesture on our part and a huge gesture and effort by adidas to make it happen in a very short period of time,” said Mississippi State head baseball coach John Cohen.
The online bidding process began on Friday morning and will conclude at 5 p.m. (CT) Friday, April 26. All proceeds from the auction will go to One Fund Boston, established to raise money for the victims and their families who were impacted by the April 15 Boston Marathon bomb attack.
