BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Booneville School District has the second highest graduation rate in Mississippi.
That information was recently released as school officials say they are ecstatic about the results.
Leaders say that one main reason why the district has done so well is the availability of extra-curricular activities to keep the students interested in school.
They say that the graduation rate stands at 92-percent.
Superintendent Todd English says, "We offer the extra-curriculars that keep them involved. But also our coaches, our band directors, our club sponsors, our teachers, they're all involved in making sure that the students achieve academically as well as they do in their extra-curriculars and hold them accountable."
English says the parental support helps to keep the graduation rate high as well.
He says being a smaller district helps too and that good financial support from the community is a plus.
Incidentally, the Enterprise Mississippi School District had the highest graduation rate in the state.
