THRASHER, Miss. (WTVA) -- A 13-year-old was airlifted to a Memphis hospital after she was hit by a car at Thrasher School Monday afternoon.

Sheriff Randy Tolar tells the accident happened around 2:30 p.m.

He says the girl was attempted to cross County Road 1040 in front of the school when she was hit.

He says the girl was conscious when she was put on board the helicopter.

The driver of the car is a 17-year-old student at Thrasher.

Tolar says the accident remains under investigation.
