BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- It's a dream come true for one Booneville woman.
Judy George is set to open a non-profit center for senior citizens and for those in need of fellowship and friendship.
George has worked with seniors for years, but she wanted to expand her operation.
Anyone who walks through the door will be offered a lesson in quilting, sewing, crocheting and knitting.
Senior citizens will be encouraged to share their creative abilities with others.
George says she is passionate about senior citizens because they are often forgotten.
"Once they retire, they sit at home. They don't have contact outside of the home too much with other people. The next thing that goes is they don't feel like getting up to get dressed to go to church on Sunday. The next place is the nursing home," George said.
A community work day will be held Saturday at the College Street center.
The public is encouraged to attend.
