BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- It's the maximum sentences for a Rienzi man who admits to beating Steven Holley at his Thrasher home back in 2010. He would die five days later.

Prentiss County Circuit Court Judge James Roberts sentenced 24-year-old Jeremy Huguley to 40 years in prison for second degree murder and 25 years for burglary and grand larceny.

The burglary sentence stems from an unrelated case.

Sheriff Randy Tolar paints an unpleasant picture of Huguley telling the judge Huguley was a bully while in lockup.

Huguley's family testified the defendant has lived a difficult life with parents who were often incarcerated on drug-related offenses.
