BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Pet adoptions will take place this Saturday at the Booneville Animal Shelter.

The shelter will open for five hours to anyone who wishes to adopt a dog or cat.

Previously, abandoned or dangerous animals could be euthanized after a relatively short time period.

The city's Animal Control Officer is authorized to handle adoptions during the week, but his duties often keep him away from the holding facility.

Volunteers will hold "Adoption Day" on Saturday, March 22 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the shelter locacted at 200 Townhouse Drive.
