BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Oaklawn Memorial Park in Booneville is now back in the hands of a private owner.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann announced Tuesday the cemetary had been sold to Jeff Rencher of Corinth.

Hosemann's agency had been named receiver of Oaklawn in November of 2011 and his staff has worked to get the paperwork in order so they could put it up for public sale.

Previous owner Wayne Hight was sentenced to four years in prison for failing to adequately trust 85 percent of the funds received for funeral services and mechandise as required by state law and for misapplying or converting pre-need funds.

Hosemann says Rencher's bid on the property includes a $3,456 cash payment, a 25 percent discount on burial containers or vaults for individuals with previous Oaklawn preneed contracts and discounts of 30 to 50 percent for grave opening and closings for individuals with the preneed contracts.
