BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Two weeks ago, the Northeast Mississippi Community College campus book store opened a Starbucks coffee bar located inside the student union.
Selling the popular brand of coffee drinks is the first time products from a national chain business like this have been sold on campus.
Both students and Northeast staff who are customers say it's convenient for them.
Instructor Amber Nelms said, "I'm on a break between classes right now. I really needed a little pick me up, so I'm happy about it."
Student Selena Roberts said, "It's awesome. You can just come over here and get warmed up."
State community college officials say they're not aware of any other type of setups like it at any other community college in the state.
Employee Allyson Cartwright said, "A lot of the universities have coffee shops, whether it's Starbucks or something else. It's nice we can offer that on the community college level as well."
The parent company of the Northeast book store, Sodexo, added the coffee bar to its store which leases space inside the Northeast student union building.
Manager Josh Culpepper said, "This is unique for Booneville and Northeast Community College. It's a great fit and feels really natural."
For the loyal customers of this brand, they say it's just an added bonus to campus life.
Roberts said, "It's a natural fit for a college campus."
