BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- -- Prentiss County have formally charged a man in the stabbing of another man authorities are New Year's night.
Sheriff Randy Tolar says Jacob Lee Holmes, 26, of Booneville is charged with aggravated assault.
Tolar says deputies responded to a call of a stabbing on County Road 5005 around 11 p.m.
He says they found on person had been stabbed once in the neck.
The person, whose name has not been released, was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo and remains hospitalized.
Tolar says it appears an altercation lead to the stabbing.
