BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) — Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society held a blood drive Wednesday and Thursday in honor of the 9/11 victims.

The honor society holds three blood drives a year with the United Blood Services.

However, this is the society's first year doing a blood drive for 9/11.

One organizer says students, faculty and staff all came out to give blood.

"It being 9/11 it makes people think more about what has happened in our society and it gives people a better reason and initiative to give blood," Phi Theta Kappa member Kelsey Bishop said.

Wednesday was Bishop's first time donating blood.

She says the fact that it was 9/11 made her feel like she needed to donate in honor of all of the victims.
