PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) -- An investigation into the sale of methamphetamine in Pontotoc has lead to the arrest of two people.

Police Chief Larry Poole says Joshua Lee Williams, 29, and Jennifer Lynn Stanford, 30, of Pontotoc were arrested Thursday.

Poole says the couple sold the drug on East Marion Street near Pontotoc High School and in the parking lot of a business on Highway 15 near a church.

Williams and Stanford are charged with two counts of sale of methamphetamine within 1500 feet of a church or school.

Poole says Williams has a hold for authorities in Arkansas for a violation of probation.

Poole says the police, Pontotoc Sheriff's Department, North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics assisted in the investigation.

He says more arrests are expected.
