PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) -- The United Way of Northeast Mississippi held its second round of Back-to-School Resource Fairs Saturday.

Fairs were held in Pontotoc, Tishomingo and Chickasaw Counties.

Kids kindergarten through 6th grade are given a free backpack filled with school supplies for the upcoming school year for free.

Parents said the giveaway is more than helpful.

"Some people, like me, I cant afford backpacks and they get more expensive every year," Jackie Harrison said.

In Pontotoc, there were about 1,500 people in attendance and 550 backpacks given out.

The next resource fair will be August 2nd at Baptist Memorial hospital in Booneville.
