PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) -- Mississippi's First Lady made an appearance at Pontotoc Elementary School Tuesday.

Deborah Bryant read to kindergarten classes taught by Kasey Kidd and Lynne Tallant.

Bryant is promoting a new program called "Read Across Mississippi" and it launches in 2014.

"We want to get to as many schools as we can throughout Mississippi. We're going to actively have this program so that we can see more children. Encourage more children to read and just be with kids in Mississippi," said Bryant.

Bryant also made a stop at Mississippi's Children Home Services in Oxford.
