LONGVIEW, Miss. (WTVA) — Two men are under arrest following a police chase and a daylong manhunt.
The ordeal started around 2 a.m. Wednesday when Sherman police reponded to a breaking and entering at Sherman Drugs on Highway 178.
Officers said before they could make any arrests, the two men drove off.
"They broke into the pharmacy," said Pontotoc County Sheriff Leo Mask. "Sherman police pulled up and got after them and ran them through Lee County."
"The vehicle would not stop for them," added Sherman Police Chief Joel Spellins. "The pursuit began and went to Tupelo and through some back roads till we got over here just outside of Pontotoc city, and two subjects jumped out of the car."
Despite multiple law enforcement agencies searching from the ground and from the air, the two men were not caught until around 5 p.m. Wednesday at a trailer on Prewitt Road.
The vehicle they were driving has since been towed and impounded at the Pontotoc County Sheriff's Department.
The Pontotoc County Sheriff's Department, the Union County Sheriff's Department, the Sherman Police Department, the U-S Marshals Service and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks raided the trailer where the two were hiding.
