PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) -- The countdown is on again for the opening of the new Tanglefoot Trail.
The finishing touches are being done to the 44.6 mile trail which that extends between Houston and New Albany.
A few items need to be cleared before the trail can be turned over to the GM&0 board.
Once construction meets full compliance the board will announce a new opening date.
Plans now call for the trail to potentially open sometime before the end of this month, following a final inspection from an agency.
"They've alread been and done there's and provided the check list and then MDOT is responsible for federal highway," said Randy Kelley, executive director Three Rivers Planning & Development District Inc. "[It] is our understanding to confirm the check list has been met in accordance with federal highway and MDOT's standards."
An opening ceremony is expected to be held sometime after the trail opens.
