PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) - Residents in parts of Pontotoc were without power for about an hour Monday evening after a lightning strike.
Pontotoc Electric Power Association spokesman Chuck Howell tells WTVA.com that lightning either struck at or near the Pontotoc substation around 5:20 p.m.
He says the substation is one of six substations in the association's system and serves about 4,000 customers.
Howell says employees worked to restore power and that nearly all of the customers had electricity back in less than an hour.
He says Pontotoc Electric Power Association serves customers in six counties.
