PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) -- The grand opening of the Tanglefoot Trail has a new date after the GM&O Board postponed this months opening.
The 44 and a half mile trail will allow residents to walk and ride bikes between Houston and New Albany.
The project has encountered a few delays because of the weather and last minute bridge work.
Workers also had to bushhog some areas and some cross markings had to be re-glued.
The board is optimistic that the trail will be open for public use before September 21st.
"We are very hopeful that will be able to announce and open the trail prior to that date and as soon as the federal highway and MDOT turns it over to us and meet their inspection criteria. [The] the board will make an announcement and open the trail," said Randy Kelley, executive director Three Rivers Planning Development District.
Law enforcement will use four golf carts to patrol the trail.
