PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) -- Construction is in full-swing on a brand new multi-purpose park entitled "Off the Square Market" in Pontotoc.

Thanks to a donated lot, the city is having a new venue complete with sidewalks, handicap accessible ramps, bathrooms, a pavillion and lawn.

"It should be able to accomodate anything they need from outdoor activities for the town after hours all kinds of stuff. It will be neat," said Casey Roberts, co-owner of Roberts Builders, Inc.

"Hopefully, this thing will end up being a playground. Just a gathering area for all times seeing kids play King of the Hill over there on the berms up against the buildings over there and just out in the plaza," said architect Dusty Parker.

The first event is expected to be held in June.
