PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) - Local and state leaders joined representatives from Brooks and DeHart Furniture Xpress and Eaton Custom Seating to make the announcement that new jobs are coming to Pontotoc.

Brooks and DeHart is a furniture delivery company based in North Carolina where 125 are currently employed.

Anthony Brooks with Brooks and DeHart said, "We're expanding to the Mississippi area simply because Mississippi is the upholstery capital of the country. We want to be here and part of this business."

The company is already up and running here with 10 employees.

It's making hauls out of an existing building in the industrial park representing a $2.8 million investment and eventually 35 new jobs.

Eaton Custom Seating manufactures seating products used mostly in hospitality and health care settings.

Eaton is expanding its existing manufacturing space.

Greg Marx with Eaton said, "Pontotoc is a great city. We have a great labor force here because of the upholstered furniture industry being here. It's very great for us and all our suppliers are around close."

Eaton has been in Pontotoc for 50 years and the company's president says business is growing 25% to 30% per year.

Expansion work totaling close to 13,000 square feet plus construction of a new parking area at Eaton Custom Seating is expected to begin soon.

The $500,000 expansion will create 20 new jobs.

Pontotoc Mayor Jeff Stafford said, "These are stable jobs. We have one that's in manufacturing. One is in shipping. It's two diverse companies and they both are doing well."

The mayor says these kinds of companies are what his office and other economic developers work to bring here and keep.
