PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Highway Patrol says an 18-wheeler hauling garbage has overturned at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 278 in Pontotoc County.

Troopers say the roadway is partially blocked after garbage spilled out of the truck and onto the highway.

They say the driver, Samuel Hayes, 24, of Tupelo, was exiting Highway 9 onto Highway 278 West when the accident happened.

Hayes, who was driving the truck for Red River Services, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

Troopers says the accident remains under investigation.

Motorists are advised to use caution in the area until the scene is cleaned up.
