ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) -- A former Ecru police officer will serve one year in federal prison on charges he deprived the rights of two people he pulled over for traffic offenses.

Jody Mac Rock, 35, of Pontotoc was sentenced during a hearing in U. S. District Court Thursday afternoon.

Rock pleaded guilty to a two count federal indictment in U. S. District Court in Aberdeen in February .

Federal court records show he was accused on two occasions of pulling over people, then taking cash from them in lieu of writing a traffic citation.

He was ordered to report to prison on November 18.

In addition to the prison term, Rock must serve one-year supervised probation and perform 100 hours of community service.
