ECRU, Miss. (WTVA) -- It's the end of drug sales in the Ecru Cpl. Blake Mounce Park.

That's the pledge of Police Chief Jack Chisholm who now has extra officers on staff to crack down on drug activity.

Chisholm says three arrests have just been made in connection with two incidents.

Officers have recovered $400 worth of marijuana and $300 worth of crack cocaine.

The chief says anyone connected to drug activity near a school or church will face additional charges.

That also goes for those found to be in possession of a weapon while committing a crime.

"That's one thing we're not gonna have here. There's a daycare within 200 feet of the city park," Chief Chisholm said.

"The chief and his new assistant (are) working more hours than they're getting paid for and they're really impressing me with efforts to clean up Ecru," Mayor Mark Baldwin said.

The latest arrests on drug related charges include 27-year-old Julius Raymond Judon of Cairo Loop, Ecru.

He is charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

Arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute are 19-year-old Javonnis Dewayne Garmon of Pontotoc and 21-year-old Ethan Holcomb Tallant of Ecru.
