BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A woman says her sister was shot to death over the annual Alabama-Auburn football game.

Police say 28-year-old Adrian Laroze Briskey was charged Monday with murder in the killing of fellow Crimson Tide fan, 36-year-old Michelle Shepherd, Saturday. The killing outside an apartment complex outside Birmingham came just moments after Alabama lost to archrival Auburn in a last-second thriller.

Nekesa Shepherd said she witnessed the killing. She said Briskey flew into a rage when she saw the sisters and others joking that the Crimson Tide's loss wasn't as bad as if the NBA's Miami Heat had lost.

Shepherd told The Associated Press that the suspect said they weren't really Alabama fans and started shooting.

Police say they are looking at whether the game's outcome was the motive.
