TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- A man and woman in jail following a high-speed chase through Pontotoc and Lee County Saturday night face more charges.

Tupelo police say Karen Michelle Barker, 49, of Oxford and Anthony Glenn Poe, 35, of Smithville are now charged with the robbery of an elderly woman at knifepoint last Wednesday morning.

The woman has held up in the parking lot of Tupelo Nursing Rehab on Briar Ridge Road.

Authorities say the couple attempted to cash stolen checks taken during the robbery.

Bond for Poe was set at $1 million, while Barker, who told a judge she was on parole for a drug charge, has a $10,000 bond.

Poe and Barker are also accused in the robbery of an elderly woman in her yard Friday on Reform-Gordo Road in Pickens County, Alabama.

The couple was apprehended Saturday night on Blair Street around 8:15 p.m. after Pontotoc deputies attempted to stop them in Sherman and they ran.

Pickens County Chief Deputy Greg Carr says the two will be brought back to Alabama to face robbery, assault and theft charges.
