STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Mississippi State organization is working to help bilingual parents better understand the process of sending children to college.

Mississippi State's Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers held their second Noche de Ciencias, which means "Science Night" Saturday.

About 20 people participated

The students talked to them about financial aid and what to expect when sending a child away to college.

They also discussed the different opportunities there are in the math, science and engineering careers.

"The [parents] were so motivated and aware of what they have to do," Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers member Katerine Saleme Ruiz said. "We got excited because of their response, so we decided to do it again."

The workshop also included educational science activities for the children who came.
