STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Starkville city official's job may be on the line.

Chief Administrative Officer Lynn Spruill will no longer be on the payroll if a majority of the Board of Aldermen have their way.

Five members voted in favor of a motion to not reappoint Spruill during a meeting July second.

Mayor Parker Wiseman has vetoed that order, and says the reasons to retain Spruill are abundant.

Wiseman says he has yet to hear a single good reason for the move to terminate Spruill from aldermen.

Spruill says she has enjoyed serving the city and is honored the mayor would veto the order.

Alderman Jason Walker says he anticipates the majority of the aldermen to override the veto.

Calls to the aldermen who voted for Spruill's termination have not yet been returned.
