STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) — The Starkville Board of Aldermen has passed a resolution concerning the use of cellphones during its meetings.
Former Alderwoman Sandra Sistrunk said on Twitter the resolution calls for people in the audience at those meetings to be asked to silence or power down their phones.
The resolution was approved unanimously Tuesday, and it's different than the one proposed by Alderman Roy A. Perkins.
Perkins sought a ban on electronic devices during meetings. An exception would have been allowed for members of the news media as well as journalism students from Mississippi State University.
Sistrunk said that proposal was rejected on a 4-3 vote.
