STARKVILLE, Miss (WTVA) — Willie Mae Allen suffers from arthritis. She says she traveled to Ethelsville, Alabama to ask psychic reader Mrs. Lamarr for help.
Police say that helped turned on her when the psychic showed up at her front door.
"While she was in the residence, she took $8,025 of this lady's money against her will-her whole life's savings," said Starkville Police Department Detective Bill Lott.
"She said where's that money at? She took it out of my hand," said Willie Mae Allen.
Police say Mrs. Lamarr, whose real name is Fatima Marks, gained the victim's trust-an easy task for someone who knows how.
"It's easy for them to be manipulated by a person that has bad intentions," added Detective Lott.
Detective Lott believes there are others out there with a story to tell and quite possibly one that could be used against Marks.
"What we're concerned about is are there other people out there who have had a similar experience with Mrs. Lamarr. We want to know. If so, we want to help those people," said Detective Lott.
