STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) — More than a hundred runners participated in the Historic Starkvegas 10K Saturday.

The race is put on by the Starkville Central Neighborhood Foundation which helps out Starkville communities by getting them street signs and spreading awareness about historic homes.

Runners got a chance to run through a few of Starkville's historic neighborhoods during the race, which organizers said gives them a chance to learn more about the area.

"It's healthy," Starkvegas Race Director Michelle Jones said. "We have sidewalks in our neighborhoods that we're really excited about. We want to kind of celebrate the fact that we live in really walkable neighborhoods."

This is the race's fourth year.
