STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) — A man is under arrest in connection with a recent high speed police chase from Starkville to Clay County.
The man is identified by Starkville police as 38-year-old Michael Lee White of Mooreville, who is charged with felony fleeing.
Police say a Starkville police officer tried to pull over White's pickup Friday afternoon, but the truck would not stop.
According to officers, the truck ran a red light, drove recklessly through traffic and got up to speeds as high as 100 miles per hour before it finally stopped on Ballard Road in Clay County.
The two people in the truck jumped out and ran into the woods.
Deputies from Clay County and Oktibbeha County along with Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers and officers from Starkville searched the woods but could not find the two.
A Tupelo police officer later found White and arrested him. The second person in the truck still has not been found.
At his initial appearance, a judge set White's bond at $50,000.
