STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Highway Patrol, Troop G announced its 2013 Trooper of the Year on Thursday.
Sgt. Criss Turnipseed nominated Trooper Greg Bell for the award.
Bell graduated from Cadet Class 60 in 2011 and has served Clay County as a trooper for more than two years.
Before joining the state highway patrol, officials say Bell worked for the Mississippi Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and the Starkville Police Department.
During his time with the MHP, Bell has received the Lifesaving Award and became certified as a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing instructor and a Drug Recognition Expert. Officials say he is also a member of the MHP SOG Team.
Turnipseed says Bell finished 2013 in the top 10 in DUI enforcement and in seatbelt violations, the top three in total marijuana seizures and child restraint violations and number one in enforcement citations and currency seizures in Troop G.
