JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Department of Employment Security says Clay County had the highest unemployment rate for March 2014 at 17.2 percent, nearly 10 percent more than the statewide average.
In information released Wednesday morning, MDES shows Mississippi's unemployment rate in March was at 7.9 percent, falling from 8.5 percent in February.
The March rate was also down .6 percent from March 2013 as well.
Lafayette County had the lowest unemployment rate recorded at 5.8 percent.
The Mississippi Department of Employment Security also shows Lee County's unemployment rate at 7.8 percent, as well as Lowndes County at 9.2 percent and Oktibbeha County at 8 percent.
