STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Mississippi State fans who have purchased tickets already for the Auto Zone Liberty Bowl game have quickly noticed a Liberty Bowl legend on their ticket.

"I was very thankful that it was not Archie Manning on my ticket," said Caleb Hamill, MSU student. "As a Mississippi State fan diehard all my life anything but that was a good ticket for me."

"To me it was just a ticket," said Tyler Howell, MSU student. "As long as I am able to go and support the Mississippi State Bulldogs that's all that really matters to me."

The legends including Archie Manning, the late Paul Bear Bryant, Bo Jackson, Doug Flutie, AJ Green, and the late Ernie Davis were scheduled to be printed on the tickets well in advance of the bowl game.

"I think it shows the history, tradition and the depth of involvement of some of the great players, coaches and administrators that have been involved with the Liberty Bowl through the years," said Mike Nemeth, senior associate athletic director for MSU.

Regardless of which Liberty Bowl legend is on the cover of these tickets, the tickets are selling like hot cakes. In fact, Mississippi State University had to put in an additional request to receive more tickets to sell to their fans.

"Ticket sales have been great," said Mike Richey, senior associate athletic director for Bulldog Club Ticket Operations. "We we're almost sold out during our pre-sale period and as soon as the the bowl was officially announced we went on sale live online and then by phone the next morning and sales have been really brisk."

For fans who are still waiting to purchase a ticket, they have a preference as to who they hope will or won't appear on their ticket.

"I am excited to be at the Liberty Bowl this year in Memphis and of all the legends I hope that the Bear is on my ticket this year," said Dayna Presley, MSU student.

"There's no one I would not prefer but because Archie Manning was Ole Miss it would be my least preference," adds Sara Martin, MSU student. "I rather prefer someone like Bear Byrant or Flutie."

All tickets for this year's Auto Zone Liberty Bowl game between Mississippi State and Rice are $55.00.
