JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — The attorney for Willie Jerome Manning filed a legal motion Friday in hopes of sparing the death row inmate from execution next month.

One of the requests in the motion is for the Mississippi Supreme Court to rehear a request for DNA and forensic testing of Manning.

This week, the court set his execution for May 7 for the deaths of two Mississippi State University students in 1992.

Manning was given two death sentences for the killings of Jon Steckler and Tiffany Miller in Oktibbeha County.
