Junior Auxiliary holds annual school supply drive

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Junior Auxiliary of Starkville will be collecting school supplies for the children of Oktibbeha County on Saturday, August 3 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., at the Starkville Wal-Mart on Highway 12 West.

The annual “Stuff the Bus” event provides hundreds of school supplies to the teachers and guidance counselors to distribute to children in need throughout the academic year.

All donations received from this school supply drive go directly to the schools and have an immediate impact on the children and their participation in class.

The Junior Auxiliary of Starkville is asking for all donations to be new school supplies including crayons, glue, scissors, pencils, writing tablets, folders.

A school supply list of needs for each school supply list is located inside Wal-Mart in the school supply area.

The Junior Auxiliary of Starkville volunteers will have large bins to collect these supplies near the Wal-Mart entrance.

“This annual event is a great opportunity for JA to make a direct impact on the children,” said Hannah Stewart, chairman of the Child Assistance Committee. “If this school drive did not happen, many of our county’s children would not have the supplies they need to be successful in the classroom.”

Monetary Donations are also accepted will help purchase additional school supplies.

The Junior Auxiliary of Starkville thanks all businesses who contribute the annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive.
