JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood is asking the state's highest court to set an execution date for Willie Jerome Manning.
Hood requested an April 24, 2013 Monday following the U. S. Supreme Court's decision not to review Manning's appeal.
Manning is on death row in the 1992 deaths of Tiffany Miller and Jon Steckler.
Hood says the date was requested because state law requires it be set within 30 days.
Manning claims new evidence will clear him in the case, but has lost appeals in state and federal court.
