STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Agencies in Oktibbeha County took part in a disaster preparedness drill Thursday.

The county and the city of Starkville pretended a tornado had hit the city.

Several volunteers acted as if they had injuries. They were taken to OCH Regional Medical Center as part of the drill.

Organizers said the exercise will help the participating agencies when future disasters occur.

"By doing that, I think we would be much better prepared," Oktibbeha County Emergency Management Director Jim Britt said. "We're never completely prepared for an emergency, but we will be better prepared to respond to it."

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) helped facilitate the drill and critiqued the county's preparedness after the drill was over.
